Jewish Cemetry in Prague

 A part of Prague located between the Old Square and the Vltava River. It used to be the Jewish ghetto of the town and was named after the emperor Josef II, whose reforms helped to ease living conditions for the Jewish. It's history dates back to the 13th centurt, when the Jewish community in Prague were ordered to vacate their disparate and settle in one area. Currently Josefov is mixed among the most modern buildings and it is difficult to appreciate exactly what the old quarter was like when it was reputed to have over 190 000 inhabitants. The Old Jewish Cemetry is Europ's oldest surviving Jewish cemetry.
